Becca at the door

One of the neighborhood girls came over the other day, soliciting donations for her school something-or-other. Now, it gripes me to no end that schools get all that federal funding and still have fundraisers while I keep my own at home and buy the supplies out of my pocket, but that’s not the point of today’s rant. I also participated in a fund raiser the first year we moved here and have yet to receive the goods I paid for, but that’s also not the point of today’s rant.

Cass-would you just get to the point??? Ok, here it is. The child had been given the “honor” of being in the court for this something-or-other. Whether she got to be queen, princess or lady in waiting *was totally dependent* on how much money she raised. That is just wrong on so many levels. So many levels. Wrong.

  1. Ew, that is seriously yucky! As if young girls don’t have enough social issues to deal with, the school has to pitch in and say “yes, people like you more when you have more money” ew, ew, and ew.

  2. On the one hand, I don’t like that. On the other hand, I think it’s better than the courts based on popularity. Actually… they both suck. They need to get rid of the courts entirely .
