Seriously, wth?

I can’t find my camera. Seriously. I have at least 12 pictures to post, and that is if I only post project 365 stuff, and I. Can’t. Find. My. Camera. This is so not funny! Time to give the clutter around here a diet pill, and I’ll be back once I dig my trusty Canon out.

In other news, there is just so much to say, and yet nothing at all. Heh, I guess a blog about me is pretty darn boring when I won’t talk very much, isn’t it?e

A Temporary Fyx

So, I have had a new cd on my desk for a couple of weeks now. I even debated giving it to dh for Christmas, but in the end I was too selfish to do that. I wanted it for myself, so I kept it. I finally opened it today, and I played it so loud that it made the old rocker himself complain. The album is Styx Greatest Hits, and I discovered (again) that Styx, played loud enough will fyx just about anything, at least for awhile.

My husband had another cat scan on Friday. There were no “acute changes”, and so we came on home. It’s a little scary to be asked by the doctor’s office “Can you come in today?” and then “How long will it take you to get here?” and then “She wants you in the room with him. I don’t know anything else, but I know that.” We should have the final report along comparisons tomorrow. I hope. In the meantime, I am dealing with a grown man who often acts like a 5 year old, but demands all the rights and privileges of an adult. I’ll leave you to ponder that for a few minutes while I turn my cd back up.

Slow as molasses tonight!

Daggone, the internet is so slow here tonight! Don’t the minions know that I have things to do???!!?? Posts to write, feeds to read, links to leave? But every page is taking forever to load. I’m supposed to be researching web hosting choices and … pfffft nothing! I’m timing out before I can get all the graphics to load! Of course, I guess there are worse things to do than review a site based only on the information it provides, as opposed to how pretty it is, right? Right??

The web hosting review guide lists the internet’s top site hosts, along with their prices and how much space and bandwidth they offer. You’ll also find out how their up times compare. If you run any type of website where you try to make a buck, you need to know that up time is a major factor in your success or failure. In fact, I almost left a host because of the amount of downtime my blogs had. For awhile, my blogs were down for at least a few minutes per day. It got to the point that I was exchanging heated email with tech support, and then, woohoo, the situation resolved. Boy was I glad, because I really have no idea how to pack up and move a blog, LOL. But I was totally going to learn, oh yes I was!

Now, I have to note that my host is not listed as one of the top 10 web hosts. Perhaps their old reputation still sticks, eh?

Crikey, that’s cold

So, let’s talk about the weather for a few minutes. So far this year, it has been cold for three days: November 1st, December 6th and December 13th. Otherwise, it has been fairly warm, and occasionally hot. In fact, I had to turn the house fans on yesterday. If you have been following along, you will note that those three cold days correspond with the three craft shows Mama and I have done, but that is a story for another day.

Tonight, we have a different forecast. We have a forecast that can best be described as bitter. It’s supposed to be in the 20s tonight and tomorrow night! That is freezing for here. Well, 29 is freezing anywhere, I know, but I mean it is really cold for here, colder than we normally get. Cold enough to make me think about a tank, a silk undershirt, a turtle neck, a sweater AND a couple of berghaus fleeces. If that seems over much, bear in mind that I wore a silk undershirt, a turtleneck and two sweaters for that last show when it was 40. Plus a scarf. And a hat. Yes sir, my favorite temperature is warm, thanks for asking. I’m not quite sure how I ever survived Colorado and Kansas, LOL!

You know what else? I very rarely have to go out. But you know what? Tomorrow is one of those mandatory out days. Yay me! I’m off to blind check Seven Pounds. It better be a darn good movie!

Mad, but at least it isn’t a sigh

So, I took my husband to have a cat scan today. Emotions are running so high, I almost wish I were equipped with bar faucets, so I could turn the anger OFF. Or maybe I want to turn it ON enough to do something. I just don’t know.

Anyway, I’d sent him to the clinic Thursday, and after hearing that he was suffering from memory issues and erratic behavior the doc ordered a cat scan. She should have the results Monday. In the meantime… I’m still angry. Because you know what also happened Thursday? He got fired from his 15 hour a week, minimum wage job. For failing to show up. Again

Yeah. Cause if he ain’t sick, he sure is crazy.

The NKJV Chronological Study Bible

New AMAZING COLORFUL study Bible

I recently received a copy of the new NKJV Chronological Study Bible put out by Thomas Nelson publishers. I have an old Reese Chronological Bible which is…well…it’s the Bible, chopped up in little bits and pieces, and there aren’t very many notes, and so it didn’t really help me understand the historical significance of the various Biblical events. Nor did it do anything to help me tie in extra-Biblical events with what was going on in the church. I expected a Bible where Job was put in front of Genesis, and the gospels were chopped up like mincemeat for a holiday pie. I was so very surprised! It’s different than I expected, and I mean that in a good way.

The Chronological Study Bible is different. There are images of historical figures (like Josephus, who bears no resemblance at all to Bocephus whom my mind has always strayed to when I read the name) and there are notes on the culture of the times–what exactly was happening in Corinth when Corinthians was written? And there are “time capsules” on some of the pages that give a snapshot of what was going on historically. For example, the one on page 1374 covers A.D.64, and Nero’s rule and the great fire in Rome. Putting this information in the context of 1 Timothy helps paint a complete picture, and the explanation of widows on that same page brings home the point that Ecclesiastes has made for millennium. There truly is nothing new under the sun: today’s problems plagued the ancients, too.

I look forward to studying out of this Bible for years to come. And much to my own surprise, I’ve started with Revelation. Which I now know was written during the time of Domitian, who was killed by his close associates and succeeded by Trajan.

So, lemee ask you

Lately, *cough*, I’ve been dealing with some joint pain. The cough was so you don’t ask me exactly what I mean by lately, LOL, but it’s years. My fingers hurt, and my toes, and I can adapt, I guess, even as the 12 year old inside me stomps her foot, shakes her ponytail and says, “no way!”, but what’s really been dragging me down is shoulder pain.

Now, I typically sleep on my stomach, which means my shoulders are up over my head, and the joints are stressed. I’ve had to alter that, of course, because, really, who can sleep with the little gnome with a pickax in the ball joint of their shoulder? Not me! But, man, that is the best sleep. Sleeping like that, for me, it’s like those few minutes after the alarm goes off, all night long. That good.

So, I’m after suggestions. Mama swears by Osteo-Flex at $40 a bottle *gulp*. Daddy has been wearing one of those magnetic bracelets for years and since he keeps wearing it, it must work for him. But I want to know what some of you do. And you can all quit looking at me askance. Not all of you are young and fresh anymore. We can be honest with one another. Just go ahead and fess up– how do you keep your groove on, when it hurts to move?

One of those days and goals

Duomo Orologio - 24 hour clock

Do you ever have one of those days where you run all day long, things get done, and still you find yourself sitting down at roughly 7pm with your whole to do list still to do? Yeah, it happens to you, too? Seriously?

This morning, I got up, made my grocery list and headed out to the stores by 9am. I ran into Mama at the first store I went to, and we discussed her plans to go do some stuff this afternoon, but I was pretty sure I would not be done in time to go with her. I hustled up, though, and was back home by 11. Folks, I have just become an early shopper. It usually takes me at least TWICE that long to get our shopping done!

So, I did end up going with her. She delivered a beading order and we shopped for more beads and then I came home and cooked supper. And then the kids and I cleaned for an hour, and then I sat down to begin my day with Bible reading. Yep, even after supper. If I don’t do it when I first sit down, I don’t do it. And then I practiced guitar a bit, and then I started working.

You know, I know some people like to emblazon their logo on promotional pens, and that’s great. I even have a few with my CassKnits! brand on them. However, on days like this, I think a 24 hour clock with my name scrawled across it might make a better gimme. I’m tired.

Ok, the goal report: nothing exciting. I’ve neither gained nor lost weight and I even forgot to weigh until this evening. As for reading, I’m trying. I really am, and I have even been successful a couple of times this week. I’m having a hard time focusing on the book though. That is just odd for me, that reading would be difficult. The words aren’t hard, but making myself settle into the story, that’s taking a little effort. Not a lot, mind you, but enough that I am reminded that reading is sometimes a discipline. Hopefully, I will soon move past that, and it will be pure pleasure again.

I’m muddling my message, I can tell. What I am trying to say…. reading used to be like breathing for me. Now it is like ..not even exercise, but…it requires a bit of my attention to do it. I used to just fall in to the pool of words and swim away, but now….I’m having to convince myself it’s okay to get wet, okay to take this back for myself.
